Choosing Between A Wood Or Aluminum Fence

After you have lived in your house for four, five or even a few years more, and plan on staying there for many more years, then it might be time to invest in some house foundations projects. These projects have a little more meat to them than just cosmetics. The first couple of years you are in a house are spent painting and getting the decorating scheme just right. Once you pass those first few years, then it becomes time to tackle so larger, more involved projects that actually add equity to the value of your home. One of those items is a fence.

Reasons to Get Fencing

There are several reason why you may have decided to install a fence around your yard. Did you get a puppy and need to keep him contained in your yard? Did your neighbors get a puppy and you are tired of it coming in to your yard and leaving deposits? Dogs are usually the first reason why people consider getting a fenced in yard around their house. There isn’t the need to worry about the dog getting out all of the time, yet it can still get its exercise running around the yard.

Another reason why people get fencing is because of the law. When you install a swimming pool in most neighborhoods, there has to be a fence around the entire perimeter of the pool that locks. The fence is what keeps children and neighbors out of your pool for safety reasons.

Lastly, a reason people get a fence is to keep children contained. A fence will safely keep children, and even possessions like bikes, toys and gardening tools securely behind the fence where they are harder to see and get to. The kids will stay behind the latched gate and the people you don’t want to come in will also have a harder time.

Choosing Aluminum or Wood Fencing

When you are working on house foundations, then you want to make sure something lasts for the long haul. Are you the type of person who wants to stick some fencing in and forget about it? Or do you want to put in some fencing and take care of it every year so it looks good? Depending on your answer will determined which type of fencing is the best option for you and your home.

Wood fencing can be placed in your yard and you can forget about it….for a couple of years. The wood will fade if it is not painted or stained and then after a few more years, it can start to splinter and even crack or have pieces fall off if it isn’t regularly maintained. Wood will require maintenance and might even need replacing after a dozen years or so.

Aluminum and chain link fencing can be placed in the yard and then forgotten about. They need very little, if any, maintenance and will look good for many years to come. However, chain link fence is not very private. Aluminum fence comes in limited colors for you to choose from.
